PRIVATE, SECURE FILE STORAGE SERVICE:
EXCELLENCE DRIVEN
The computer is marvelous. Personal computers, networks, the Internet and the software that made it run are all among the most important, fascinating and liberating technologies of our era. They have unlocked a new dimension for how we learn, do business, play and interact with each other.
It feels, however, as though refinement hasn't kept pace. Digital transformation happened decades ago. Hardware capabilities have increased by orders of magnitude, yet the software we use daily often feels slower, more cumbersome, less secure and less reliable.
Too many things we use daily remain unreliable, unstable and unresponsive. Somehow, this has become the accepted standard. Personal information is treated as inventory for advertising engines. Assurances of security and encryption dissolve under scrutiny. A modest web application can require gigabytes of build-time dependencies, inheriting an attack surface its authors may scarcely understand.
Perhaps too few care enough. We do, and we hold ourselves responsible for the quality of everything we build.
Reliability is part of the product. Performance is part of the product. Trust is part of the product.
The ability to store and share files privately ought to be an elementary capability of a mature Internet. Yet services offering genuinely private storage: end-to-end encrypted, with no telemetry, analytics or third-party integrations, and straightforward, secure backup options - remain remarkably scarce.
Our purpose with NETHERWALL is to build what should already be commonplace: dependable online and offline file storage, private by design and protected by end-to-end encryption. No tracking or analytics. No external dependencies, packages or integrations.
The minimum necessary user information retained.
A deliberately limited attack surface.
Nothing required beyond your browser.
These principles define NETHERWALL 1.x and govern what follows.
